With fruit sourced not too far from the winery headquarters, the Cascina Adelaide 2016 Barolo Preda offers a steady and sure-footed expression of Nebbiolo that finds stability in equal parts dark fruit, spice, licorice and ferrous earth. There's a nice balance here, as if to suggest that the wine made closest to home is the easiest to approach and understand. That easy read of the Nebbiolo grape gives this release of 12,000 bottles a slightly more immediate drinking window.

A opulent, exotic red with ripe berries, plums and hints of toffee and flowers. Full-bodied, round and ripe tannins and a long, savory finish. This young red has so much going for it. Give it some more time to see it all. Better after 2022.

Here is a very popular expression from Cascina Adelaide. The 2013 Barolo 4 Vigne opens to a lean and streamlined appearance with garnet and dark copper highlights. There are sweet fragrances of wild flower, rose hip and dried lavender that emerge first from the bouquet and define the wine's graceful and delicate personality. The mouthfeel is streamlined and fine, and those tannins are tucked in at the back. Although it shows a good amount of natural structure, it leaves a very polished and silky impression nonetheless. If you are looking for an approachable and easy-drinking Barolo, this is a great choice. This Barolo is pretty much ready to drink now.

Plenty of sweet berry and cherry flavors mark this supple, juicy Barolo, accented by mineral and tobacco notes. Has grip, persisting on the licorice-, leather- and tobacco-tinged aftertaste. Best from 2022 through 2038.

Bright and juicy, this Barolo matches red berry and leafy underbrush flavors to a lightweight yet steely frame. There are flashes of green tea and iron as this rolls on through the lingering finish. Best from 2022 through 2040.

There#s loads of fruit here, but it#s very fresh and inviting; red-plum compote, raspberry cheesecake and boysenberries all come to mind. The unctuous, full-bodied palate is flanked by juicy, chewy tannins and there#s real fleshiness to the overt yet bright fruit. Drink from 2021.

Broad and deep, with an element of spicy new oak, this red is vibrant and full of cherry, plum and tar flavors. Dense tannins guard the finish as this plays out, echoing fruit, tar and spice accents. Best from 2022 through 2042.
