93/100 Punkte Robert Parker, Feb 2020 Huber's 2015 Merlot di Monteggio Costera Riserva offers clear, spicy and perfectly ripe cherry and cassis fruit on the pure, bright, refreshingly mineral and nicely vegetal nose. Lush and round on the silky-textured palate, it is refreshing, finessed and very elegant, with tension, grip and vitality on the long, floral and delicate finish. It displays fine, stimulating tannins and a lovely greenish freshness. This is an impressive Merlot from the southern Alps. A great Merlot, if you ask me. A gorgeous wine. Tasted in October 2019.
93/100 Punkte Robert Parker, Feb 2020 From two neighboring granite parcels, the 2017 Syrah de Fully Quintessence offers a fascinating alpine bouquet of ripe and concentrated yet still pure and fresh, stony-scented berries, spices (white pepper) and flowers. Great definition, finesse and elegance already on the nose. The palate is silky textured, fresh yet intense and fruity, very charming but always finessed and precise. The finish is tight and tart, pure Syrah concentration without sweetness but enormous finesse and the coolish freshness from the Alps. Great potential. A hidden treasure, still somewhat reductive but promising. Tasted in February 2020.
92+/100 Punkte Robert Parker, Oct 31, 2018 Brancaia usually adds a little Merlot (20%) to this wine to soften and flesh out the crisp tightness that comes from Sangiovese. The 2015 Chianti Classico Riserva is a beautiful wine that plays its best cards in terms of mouthfeel. The bouquet is beautiful as well, with dark fruit nuances that are layered tight. You get wild cherries and red rose petal in generous supply. The mouthfeel is light to medium in texture, but it shows more smoothness and silkiness compared to many of its peers.
95/100 Punkte James Suckling September 2018 A spicy Chianti Classico Riserva showing dried red plums, dried roses, mahogany, forest floor, cedar, white truffles, wet earth and leather. But it#s all so fresh and delightful. The palate#s so focused and refined as the firm, wonderfully savory tannins dance between layers of dried fruit, which remains so pure due to the wealth of punchy acidity. Hints of orange rind on the long finish. Like a baby Brunello. Drink in 2024.
88/100 Punkte Robert Parker September 2017 The 2015 Osterfingen Oberhallau Blauburgunder Zwaa offers a clear, fresh, fruit-intense and spicy bouquet of ripe, thick-skinned cherries along with some toasty notes. The full-bodied wine is silky textured, elegant and reveals rich, intense fruit along with a lot of power. The tannins are fine and ripe, the finish very aromatic and concentrated. An impressive but powerful Pinot Noir from Schaffhausen that is sourced from two different plots, one on heavy clay soils, the other on gravels.
91-92/100 Punkte Robert Parker, Feb 2019 From 50-year-old Swiss vines and younger Burgundy clones, the 2017 Malanser Pinot Noir Selvenen is clear, pure, fresh and spicy on the nose, with red fruit and slatey aromas. Lush and intense but pure and fresh on the palate, this is a lean and crystalline Pinot with density and an intense length. Very promising. Tasted from barrel in November 2018.
90/100 Punkte Robert Parker, Sept 2017 The 2015 Rosso del Ticino Sottobosco is a dark purple colored assemblage of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Leathery and with a bit of volatile acidity on the deep and intense nose that displays dark, spicy fruit aromas, this is an elegant, pretty silky textured and refreshing red blend with fine, fresh tannins and an aromatic finish. The general style is a bit robust but this has good character and can age for 10 to 15 years. Tasted in Zurich, August 2017.
92+/100 Punkte Robert Parker, Feb 2020 The 2017 Fläscher Pinot Noir Reserve is an impressive red that shows a deep, pure and elegant bouquet of ripe red fruits, crushed stones, blood and some flinty aromas. Lush and intense on the palate, this is a wide and expansive Pinot with fine tannins and remarkable mineral freshness. The tannins are fine but structuring, and the finish is powerful, still tight and slightly dry, with good grip and refreshing salinity. Very promising. 13.5% alcohol. Tasted in Zurich in December 2019.
