From the south-facing bottom of the Loibenberg, the 2017 Loibner Grüner Veltliner Ried Kreutles Federspiel is clear and pretty intense on the precise and mineral nose. Lush and juicy on the palate, this is a round and mouth-filling Veltliner with an intense and well-structured, stimulatingly salty finish. Good grip and tension. Just excellent! Tasted in Unterloiben/Wachau, September 2018.

Both juicy and elegant with delicate snow-pea and herbal character, this is prototypical Wachau grüner veltliner. Quite a long, lively finish. Drink now.

The 2017 Loibner Riesling Ried Loibenberg Federspiel is clear and intensely aromatic on the nose, where ripe stone fruit aromas intermix with flinty notes. Lush and round on the palate, this is a very fine and elegant, medium-weighted Riesling with good mineral grip and tension in the stimulatingly salty finish. Gorgeous! Tasted in Unterloiben/Wachau, September 2018.

A stunning dry riesling for just 12.5 per cent alcohol with a slew of peach and subtle exotic-fruit notes. Very long, straight finish with a lot of drive. Drink or hold.

A rich, smoky Grüner, luscious and creamy up front, but with underlying acidity that pierces its way through, revealing persimmon, vanilla and cardamom notes. Features a really lovely texture, almost velvety, coating the palate, but still remains fresh. Complex and long. Best from 2020 through 2030.

The 2017 Dürnsteiner Riesling Smaragd (formerly Oberhauser) is from the first picking in the terraces as well as from the Trum and Oberhauser (today Klostersatz). Fermented in stainless steel and bottled in April, the wine shows a fine and discreet, herbal/floral-scented apricot nose that leads to a racy-piquant, light and crispy palate with enormous purity and freshness. Grown on gravelly soils in the plains, this is a stunning, vital and crunchy Smaragd with a long, intense and purely mineral finish that is full of tension. Tasted in Oberloiben/Wachau, September 2018.

Delicate, peachy nose. Concentrated but cool and properly dry. Long, herb and lime finish that is extremely refreshing. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

93/100 Punkte Robert Parker December 2018
From the warm and loessy middle part of the cru, the 2017 Ried Loibenberg Grüner Veltliner Smaragd offers a very delicate, fine bouquet of ripe, precise fruit aromas intertwined with flinty aromas. Intense and lush on the palate, this is a generous, very elegant, stimulating, salty-piquant, almost racy Smaragd with power, finesse, tension and vitality. The finish is long and grippy and reveals a still youthful wine that has very good aging potential. Tasted in Unterloiben, Wachau, September 2018.

94/100 Punkte James Suckling, October 2018
Super ripe yet delicate with some yeasty aromas that will integrate with time. This is rich and powerful, but has plenty of freshness, the finish sleek and super-mineral. Great aging potential. Drink or hold.

From steep, southeast-facing terraces with weathered gneiss soils, the 2017 Ried Höhereck Riesling Smaragd is concentrated, fresh and piquant on the nose, displaying ripe white fruit aromas but also some greenish fruits. Dense and piquant on the palate, this elegant, tightly woven Riesling has remarkable phenolic grip, freshness and a stimulating astringency on the salty finish. Stunningly fresh given this steep and warm terraced vineyard. Tasted in Unterloiben, Wachau, September 2018.

    James Suckling 95/100

95/100 Punkte James Suckling, October 2018
The vibrant floral and white-peach nose is very attractive and, on the palate, this stunning dry riesling is simultaneously concentrated and subtle. The finish is very long and racy. Drink or hold.

Fabulous aromas of oolong tea and vanilla bean turn to pineapple, grapefruit and savory mineral detail on the palate in this exquisite Grüner Veltliner. Viscous, yet vibrant, this shows some spice on the finish. Brilliantly harmonious, yet should show even more with some age. Best from 2021 through 2031.

Although this has some exotic-fruit aromas, the nose is also cool and minty. As succulent as it is elegant, this striking grüner veltliner finishes with an impressive mineral crescendo. Drink or hold.

As elegant as it is concentrated, this is breathtaking grüner veltliner that leaves you dazed by myriad nuances that run the entire fruit spectrum, from apples to pineapples. Then, on the dramatic finish, comes an entire microcosm of herbs. Astonishingly bright and lively for such elevated ripeness. Drink or hold.

The 2017 Ried Steinertal Riesling Smaragd is intense and flinty on the dark and stony, very flinty and coolish nose with its concentrated white peach and lime aromas. Full-bodied, sharp, super pure and mineral on the palate, this is a full-bodied, tight, fresh and serious wine with a long and tensioned but still terribly young finish. Great complexity and tension! One of the finest Rieslings from the Danube River in 2017. Tasted in Oberloiben/Wachau, September 2018.

    James Suckling 96/100

96/100 Punkte James Suckling, October 2018
Cool and herbal with a hint of wet ferns. In spite of the considerable concentration, it remains sleek and straight with a long, uncompromisingly mineral finish. Drink or hold.

Delicate nose of fresh pineapples and gardenias. As succulent as it is elegant on the palate. This already gives a lot of pleasure, but the intensity at the finish (no less than the track record of this wine) suggests it has long aging potential, too. Drink or hold.

Helles Gelbgrün, Silberreflexe. Feine Nuancen von Ananas und gelber Pfirsichfrucht, Mandarinenzesten, mineralischer Touch. Kraftvoll, saftig, feine weiße Apfelfrucht, lebendiger Säurebogen, zitroniger Touch, ein finessenreicher Speisenbegleiter.

93/100 Punkte Robert Parker December 2018
From the cooler, east/southeast-facing part of the cru, the 2017 Dürnsteiner Riesling Ried Kellerberg Smaragd displays a clear and floral bouquet with very fine flavors of crushed stones. Clear and elegant on the palate, with crunchy stone aromas, a good salinity and mineral freshness, this is a pretty pure and racy Kellerberg that needs time. It's still pretty astringent but highly promising. A classic! Tasted in Unterloiben/Wachau, September 2018.
