91/100 Punkte Vinous August 2019 Very pale bright straw yellow. The nose is two-faceted, starting with perfumed white flowers. With aeration the wine veers towards ripe yellow apple and lime. Enters juicy and suave, with luscious but lifted pomaceous orchard and white stone fruit flavors nicely focused by noteworthy salinity. Finishes long and tactile but with plenty of freshness. Another very successful vintage for this blend of Grillo and Inzolia.
92/100 Punkte Robert Parker, Oct 2019 The 2016 Sicilia Adènzia is equal parts Nero d'Avola and Syrah from the heart of the Mediterranean. This is a robust and velvety-textured red wine that makes a natural pairing partner to meat or pasta with ragù. The wine speaks in clear tones with well-enunciated elements of black fruit, spice, leather and tobacco. The Syrah seems to make the biggest impact in terms of bouquet, and the Nero d'Avola guides the mid-weight nature of the palate. This wine is simple, bright and fun to drink.
90/100 Punkte Robert Parker, May 2019 The 2016 Casino Delle Vie is mostly Sangiovese blended with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. This is a mid-weight wine that would pair seamlessly with grilled pork chops or spicy marinated vegetables on the grill. The wine offers brief moments of sweetness, followed by longer interludes of savory spice. The wine is lean in terms of mouthfeel, with lots of black fruit and tangy spice to keep your interest.
91-93/100 Robert Parker August 31, 2017 Tasted from the vat two weeks before bottling in late June 2017, the 2016 Kamptal Grüner Veltliner Renner 1ÖTW shows a pure, fresh and bright bouquet of white fruits along with some lemon flavors. The wine is intense and fresh in its mineral purity, very well structured and develops a fruity and stimulatingly salty finish. The acidity is remarkably fresh. The Renner comes from the bottom of the western part of the Kammerner Gaisberg where the vines root in calcareous silt soils and can age for 8 years or more.
90/100 Punkte Robert Parker Dec 2013 The non-vintage Franciacorta Brut is a very ripe expression with loads of yellow fruit and apricot that add immediate lift and intensity. The mouthfeel is broad and thick with loads of deep texture and creamy intensity on the finish. This elegant Franciacorta Brut (80-20 Chardonnay and Pinot Nero) delivers a soft and expansive interpretation of this premium Italian sparkling wine territory.
92+/100 Punkte Robert Parker, Oct 31, 2018 Brancaia usually adds a little Merlot (20%) to this wine to soften and flesh out the crisp tightness that comes from Sangiovese. The 2015 Chianti Classico Riserva is a beautiful wine that plays its best cards in terms of mouthfeel. The bouquet is beautiful as well, with dark fruit nuances that are layered tight. You get wild cherries and red rose petal in generous supply. The mouthfeel is light to medium in texture, but it shows more smoothness and silkiness compared to many of its peers.
95/100 Punkte James Suckling September 2018 A spicy Chianti Classico Riserva showing dried red plums, dried roses, mahogany, forest floor, cedar, white truffles, wet earth and leather. But it#s all so fresh and delightful. The palate#s so focused and refined as the firm, wonderfully savory tannins dance between layers of dried fruit, which remains so pure due to the wealth of punchy acidity. Hints of orange rind on the long finish. Like a baby Brunello. Drink in 2024.
94/100 Punkte Falstaff April 2019 Dunkles, sattes Rubinrot.
92/100 Punkte Robert Parker Oct 2019 The 2015 Sicilia Nero d'Avola Lu Patri embraces every last sunbeam of this hot vintage. This is a dark and saturated expression of Sicily's Nero d'Avola grape that delivers ripe, almost sweet, tones of Morello cherry and cherry liqueur. You also get cinnamon, tilled earth and baking spice. The wine shows soft tannins and lots of rich fiber and dark padding. A good pairing would be beef bourguignon.
92-93/100 Punkte Robert Parker August 31, 2017 From the very warm bottom of the southeastern part of the Heiligenstein, the 2016 Kamptal Grüner Veltliner Lamm 1ÖTW opens deep, rich and smoky/flinty on the intense and ripe yet fresh and precise nose with its lemon zest aromas. On the palate, this is a full-bodied, rich and mouth-filling Veltliner with stunning purity, piquancy and a coolish mineral grip in the well structured finish. Fine tannins help to keep the tension of this monolithic and age-worthy Veltliner that needs two or three years to gain finesse and relaxation. Tasted as a sample ready to be bottled in late June 2017.
94/100 Punkte James Suckling Still very leesy and funky (from reduction) this is a long-term wine with a lot of mineral intensity at the very long finish. Needs two years for the funk to blow off and the fruit to emerge, but this is going to be a very exciting wine if you have the patience. Screw cap.
92/100 Punkte Robert Parker, May 2019 This is the top-shelf wine from musician Sting's Tenuta Il Palagio. The 2015 Sister Moon is a mid-weight wine with rich and dark concentration. The wine represents a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot culled from vineyards scattered around the estate. The bouquet is rich and bold with aromas of Spanish cedar, camphor ash and spice, all surrounding a core of dark fruit. The wine is balanced and carefully large in scope. It makes a big impression in the mouth but ultimately delivers an elegant sign off.
93/100 Punkte Wine Spectator April 2019 Blueberry and violet aromas and flavors highlight this sappy red. Compact and succulent, this extends on the finish, with notes of black currant, graphite and sweet spices. Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now through 2028. 750 cases made.
94/100 Punkte James Suckling September 2018 Really enticing aromas of fresh flowers and dark fruit, as well as fresh herbs. Full body, chewy tannins and a rich finish. This is layered and provocative. From organically grown grapes. Give it two or three years of bottle age to come together.
93-95/100 Punkte Robert Parker Oct 2016 The 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape is a classic blend of 75% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre and 5% Cinsault, mostly from rolled stone terroirs, that was partially destemmed and will see 15 months all in foudre. It boasts a deep ruby/purple color as well as full-bodied richness, sweet tannin and textbook Southern Rhône notes of cured meats, toasted spice, garrigue and ample red and black fruits. It will have two decades or more of prime drinking.
95/100 Punkte Wine Spectator Nov 30, 2017 Rich and dark in profile, with delicious, velvety layers of warm fig, black currant and blackberry confiture moving through slowly, flecked with hints of ganache, roasted apple wood and tar. The finish has cut to match the heft. A real brick house that will age well. Best from 2020 through 2040. 6,500 cases made.
