89/100 Punkte Robert Parker Dec 2019 The rosé 2018 Hito Rosado is a fresher, young and pale equivalent to their red, bottled unoaked and without malolactic. This is a serious and mineral rosé, with a reductive personality and a little backward, not an explosive rosé but rather austere, with a balanced palate and a dry finish. Not a banal rosé. 54,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in December 2018.
93/100 Punkte James Suckling November 2019 Good focus and intensity to the nose here, folding in licorice, dried herbs, black pepper and Chinese spices. Full body, plenty of density and richness, but a fine line of acidity and freshness. Structured and quite long on the finish. Drink now.
91/100 Punkte Falstaff Juli 2019 13,5 Vol.-%, DIAM. Helles Strohgelb. Duftig-offene Nase nach weissen Rosen und Bananen, gelber Pfirsich, Litschi. Am Gaumen ausgewogen und satt, spannt sich mit feinem Schmelz auf, im hinteren Bereich feine Creme. gute Länge.
91/100 Punkte Robert Parker Aug 2016 The 2014 Hado wants to showcase the freshness and typicity of Tempranillo in the zone of Laguardia in Rioja, where Pujanza's vineyards are located. 2014 was an early and warm vintage, and the grapes comes from a diversity of plots in Laguardia. The wine is fermented (malolactic included) in stainless steel vats and matured in French oak barrels for one year. This year he used a lot of grapes from the Valdepoleo vineyard (he doesn't buy grapes, but he doesn't want to sell them, either), so the wine has more character. It's usually a more straightforward wine and it has more freshness, from a clay-rich vineyard; but here, the aromas are fresher and more floral. The palate is lively, fine-grained and tasty. A very good showing for this wine.
92/100 Punkte Vinous Jan 2018 The 2015 Chianti Classico Forcole is terrific. Pliant, generous and inviting, it captures all the natural intensity of the year. Soft contours and silky tannins add to the wine's considerable near- and medium-term appeal, while the flavor profile shows the darker side of Sangiovese. This is a gorgeous Chianti Classico from Cavalli.
92/100 Punkte James Suckling October 2017 A linear and fresh red with berry, cherry and chocolate flavors. Medium body, fine tannins and a balanced brightness and frutiness. All in finesse and clarity. Drink now.
93/100 Punkte James Suckling November 2019 A pretty Chianti Classico that shows bilberries, raspberries, orange rind and rose petals. In addition to its elegance, this also combines a serious core of red fruit with generous and chewy tannins. Drink now.
92/100 Punkte Falstaff Weinguide 2019/20 Intensives, leuchtendes Strohgelb.
91/100 Punkte Vinous Feb 2020 Very pale straw-green. Perfumed, pristine aromas typical of Pinot Bianco (white flowers, chamomile, beeswax, white peach) on the inviting nose. Then soft, subdued and mellow in a style typical of Pinot Bianco when ripe grapes are used, displaying varietally accurate flavors similar to the aromas. Closes bright and fresh, with a hint of salinity at the back.
91/100 Punkte Vinous Jan 2018 The 2015 Le Redini, Cavalli's Merlot/Alicante blend, is decidedly racy and exotic in this vintage. Black cherry, chocolate, licorice and menthol effortlessly fill out the 2015's supple frame. Readers should expect a bold, juicy wine built on super-ripe fruit.
95/100 Punkte Vinous Aug 2019 The 2017 Le Redini, Cavalli's Merlot/Alicante blend, is a wine of tremendous character and personality. Deep and beautifully layered on the palate, with striking aromatics, the Redini has so much to offer. Black cherry, blackberry liqueur, hard candy chocolate, wild flowers, spice, lavender and mint are some of the many notes that develop with time in the glass. The 2017 is exotic and compelling. In a word: superb.
92/100 Punkte Robert Parker February 2018 The vineyard-designated 2015 Finca Valdepoleo is pure Tempranillo from vines planted in 1973 on limestone and clay soils at 630 meters altitude in the village of Laguardia. It fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and matured in French oak barrels for 14 months. It shows the style of the vintage#approachable, juicy, medium to full-bodied, clean, modern and with good ripeness and nicely integrated oak. The palate shows good balance and a powerful wine with long life ahead. There is less structure than in 2014, gentler, more approachable, with a rare combination of power and elegance. It's also balsamic and faintly Mediterranean, nicely balanced.
95/100 Punkte James Suckling August 2018 The enveloping mulberry and spice aromas on the nose are only the first of the wonders of this stunning red Rioja, which has a great tannin structure that gives the medium-full-bodied palate both stature and excitement. Very long, fresh herbal finish of considerable complexity. Drink or hold.
93/100 Punkte Robert Parker August 2019 The most approachable of the reds is the young 2018 Les Crestes, produced with fruit from their younger vines. The fact that this is mostly Garnacha also adds to the (relative) lightness and drinkability in a cool-ish year like 2018, and it has more red fruit and fantastic freshness, with fine tannins and very integrated oak. It was bottled in June 2019 after eight months in French oak barrels.
91/100 Punkte Robert Parker Dec 2013 The non-vintage Franciacorta Radijan Brut Rose is a mature and creamy rose sparkler that exhibits an amber-pink color and pretty orange highlights. The wine carries its aromatic weight with grace: ripe peach, melon and baked bread are framed by chalk and finely chiseled lines. A spot of exotic spice or nutmeg colors the fresh, delicately foaming finale. This bottle was disgorged in April 2013. Drink: 2014-2018.
93/100 Punkte Robert Parker December 2018 From 66-year-old vines planted on the gneiss and quartzite soils in the steep Dürnstein cru, the 2017 Ried Höhereck Grüner Veltliner Smaragd displays an intense, fine and elegant nose with delicate citric and flinty-mineral notes. Very fine and elegant on the palate, with intense and well-concentrated fruit and lots of body, this is a rich and powerful but refined and well-balanced Smaragd with lingering piquant minerality. Bottled in June 2018. Tasted in Dürnstein/Wachau, September 2018.
95/100 Punkte Vinous, Jan 2018 The 2014 Tenuta degli Dei is fabulous. In fact, the 2014 is one of the best recent vintages of this wine I can remember tasting. Aromatically expressive and inviting, the 2014 is terrific. Stylistically, it is perhaps not as overt as some recent editions, but that is not a bad thing given the natural richness that is typical of Panzano. I would like to see the new oak settle down a bit from here. Otherwise, the Tenuta is very nicely done. The blend is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Petit Verdot and 15% Cabernet Franc.
95/100 Punkte James Suckling, August 2017 A beautifully soft and balanced red with berry, chocolate and vanilla. Full body, round tannins and a juicy finish. A rich and gorgeous wine. Drink or hold. Made from organic grapes.
94/100 Punkte Robert Parker October 2018 From the wine-fashion-horse father-and-son team of Tommaso and Roberto Cavalli, the 2015 Cavalli is a lusty blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc and 35% Petit Verdot. This is the estate's top-shelf wine. It is aged in a combination of barrique and tonneaux for 18 months. Cavalli reveals a dark and luscious fruit profile with plenty of dark blackberry, Morello cherry and plum to bring the wine through its aging evolution. You get lots of primary intensity over a mid-weight palate that ends with a blast of very crisp acidity.
96/100 Punkte James Suckling September 2018 Creme de cassis, freshly picked blueberries, crushed violets, hot stones, dried sage and thyme, charcoal and bark. Full body, tightly worked tannins and a long yet tight finish. The palate shows real transparency and a sense of minerality in addition to the stellar depth you would expect. Drink in 2022.
92/100 Punkte Wine Spectator, November 15, 2017 A graceful rosé that's lacy and airy in texture, with finely knit acidity enlivening the flavors of ripe cherry and strawberry fruit and lemon chiffon, accented by hints of smoke and spice. Drink now through 2022.
92+/100 Punkte Robert Parker April 2018 A similar blend of 65% Garnacha, 25% Cariñena and 10% Syrah resulted in a 2015 Salanques with higher ripeness and notably lower acidity, reflecting a much warmer and drier year. It's ripe and with lots of earthiness, mineral and characterful, with ripe fruit without excess, elegant tannins and a polished, sleek texture within the rusticity of the zone.
93/100 Punkte Wine Spectator, Oct 2019 Bright and juicy, this Barolo matches red berry and leafy underbrush flavors to a lightweight yet steely frame. There are flashes of green tea and iron as this rolls on through the lingering finish. Best from 2022 through 2040.
