91/100 Punkte Robert Parker, Oct 2018 This wine sees fruit sourced from the warm and sunny Maremma area on coastal Tuscany. The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon shows an inky dark appearance with dark garnet color saturation. It offers a fine and chiseled aromatic profile with dark berry fruit followed by spice, anise seeds and an unmistakable balsamic note that reminds me of eucalyptus oil. This is a mid-weight expression of the grape that is both accessible and easy to drink straight out of the gate. It ages in neutral oak for 12 months. Some 20<(>,<)>000 bottles were made.
91/100 Punkte James Suckling June 2018 This is a beautiful rosé with dried orange peel, light wet earth and some watermelon character. Medium body, light phenolic tension and a crisp finish. 100% merlot. Drink now.
92/100 Punkte Falstaff Zarter Pastellton.
92/100 Punkte James Suckling September 2017 A serious wine with a Reine Claude aroma and a big, earthy palate. A crisp finish that has some complexity. Still a little tight. This will be even more impressive from 2018.
90/100 Punkte Vinous Jan 2018 The 2015 Tre, Brancaia's Sangiovese-based red, is bold, racy and super-expressive. A rush of black cherry, smoke, tobacco and licorice infuse this open-knit, inviting wine before Sangiovese aromatics appear on the finish to add lift. Drink it over the next few years.
90/100 Punkte Robert Parker, Oct 31, 2018 The 2016 Tre is 80% Sangiovese with 10% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. The combination of those three grapes makes for a well-priced entry-level Tuscan red that would pair nicely with pasta or spicy sausage pizza. This is a soft and simple mid-weight wine with a bright bouquet that is colored with vibrant tones of dark fruit, spice and grilled herb. The quality of the fruit in this classic vintage is what pushes this value wine up to an exciting 90-point threshold.
91/100 Punkte Wine Spectator 2018 Black cherry, plum, earth, graphite and tobacco aromas and flavors signal this youthful red. Vibrant, solidly built and long, leaving a mouthwatering impression. Best from 2020 through 2030.
92/100 Punkte James Suckling September 2017 Quite a big, rich wine, but with serious elegance and a delicate spiciness that make it hard to resist. There's nothing superficial about the long, complex finish. Drink now.
92/100 Punkte James Suckling September 2017 While many Rheinhessen pinot blancs live entirely from the fruit aromas and lively acidity, this has some Chablis-like chalky character and creaminess at the powerful finish. Best from 2018.
93/100 Punkte Wine Spectator, Feb. 2019 Smooth, with black cherry, plum, leather and tobacco flavors intertwining, this red is complex and powerful. The beefy structure reveals itself as this plays out on the long finish. Best from 2022 through 2035.
91/100 Punkte Vinous, Jan 2017 (fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged for a year in used French and American oak casks of varying size) Ruby-red. Ripe blueberry, incense and potpourri on the perfumed nose, joined by woodsmoke and allspice nuances that build in the glass. Sweet and seamless in the mouth; intense red and blue fruit liqueur flavors deepen and spread out slowly on the back half. Discreet tannins come in late to shape the long, spice-tinged finish.
91/100 Punkte Robert Parker, August 2018 The 2016 La Misión shows much fresher, more vibrant and alive, with much better harmony. It has depth and some chalky austerity on the palate, with varietal notes and a dry finish.
94/100 Punkte James Suckling, September 2018 Another pronounced yet remarkably fresh nose for a 2015 Super Tuscan with notes of graphite, crushed stones, lavender, blackcurrants and cedar. Full body, wonderful fruit and acid balance, ripe yet grippy tannins and a long, chewy finish. Drink in 2021.
94/100 Punkte Robert Parker Apr 2019 The red Callet 2017 Sòtil, which means roof in Mallorquin, wants to show lightness and freshness, a more ethereal wine, if you want the opposite of their Tripsol. The grapes are selected from vines in Felanitx on red soils and part from the 67-year-old d#Es Pou de Sa Carrera vineyard in Porreres. 2017 was an unusually warm and early harvest (they started on the 9th of August, their earliest ever). The mostly destemmed and uncrushed grapes with 10% full clusters fermented in open-top 500-liter oak barrels and had a 20-day maceration. The wine matured in a combination of barriques, amphorae and stainless steel tanks. The wine has moderate alcohol (12%), a pale bright ruby color and an intoxicating nose of flowers and herbs#violets, lilies, rockrose, thyme and all things Mediterranean. There is something wild and authentic about it. The palate is superb; it has great finesse with filigree and is nicely textured with very fine tannins, great purity
93/100 Punkte Wine Spectator Apr 30, 2019 Smooth, with black cherry, plum, leather and tobacco flavors intertwining, this red is complex and powerful. The beefy structure reveals itself as this plays out on the long finish. Best from 2022 through 2035.
94/100 Punkte James Suckling, September 2018 Very perfumed and beautiful with red fruit, such as plums and cherries, and just the right amount of flowers and some spices. Medium body, fine and silky tannins and a fresh finish. Shows focus and lovely length. Drink now or hold.
