91/100 Punkte Robert Parker December 2017 Including the 2015 Los Acilates, I had two vintages to taste of the single-vineyard red that comes from a plot that is different than the rest of the estate. It's a north-facing, steep slope rich in limestone and was planted with well-adapted Portuguese grapes#Touriga Nacional and Trincadeira Preta#in 2003. Not as hot as 2014 but still a warm and dry vintage, 2015 saw an early harvest with very healthy grapes. The grapes fermented in concrete tanks with indigenous yeasts, followed by malolactic in barrique. The wine matured in well-seasoned small 500-liter French oak foudres for 12 months (they have shortened the oak aging of this wine). This is the finest vintage of this bottling I've tried so far; it has very good balance and a mixture of red and black berry fruit and floral undertones. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins. Amazing for the zone and for a vintage like 2015. I really believe in these grapes here. 7'000 bot

It's more telluric than 2014, a slightly darker shade of blue, and it opens up with time in the glass. This wine has achieved a very good level, with a rare combination of power and elegance, especially in this 2015. 26,315 bottles were filled in May 2017.

For the white, they have added the grapes from one more plot in the village of Ábalos that's planted exclusively with white grapes (the rest are planted with a majority of red and only individual white vines), and production has grown to 6,000 bottles. Produced in a slightly oxidative way, it's mostly Viura and 10% each Garnacha Blanca and Malvasía Riojana, fermented together in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and finished in barriques. The élevage was in used 225-liter barrels (60% of the volume), concrete eggs (25% and used for the first time) and French oak demi-muids (the remaining 15%) and lasted 12 months. The new thing is the addition of the concrete egg, which seems to have added freshness, tension and aromatic complexity. It fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and matured in French oak barrels for 14 months. It shows the style of the vintage#approachable, juicy, medium to full-bodied, clean, modern and with good ripeness and nicely integrated oak. The palate shows good balance and a powerful wine with long life ahead. There is less structure than in 2014, gentler, more approachable, with a rare combination of power and elegance. It's also balsamic and faintly Mediterranean, nicely balanced.

It has a salty minerality and the freshness from this northern and cooler zone. Despite a very late harvest in mid-October, the wine is only 12.5%, and it's bottled without malolactic, kept in stainless steel with the lees, which are stirred until bottling. It's fruit-driven with notes of pear and waxy apples, a bit shy and with very good acidity and freshness. It should develop further complexity with a little more time in bottle. 9 ,000 bottles produced. It was bottle in March 2019.

In 2015 they also planted red Garnacha with the idea to include it in future vintages of this blend. There was more rain than average in 2016, and that allowed the ripening cycle to be longer, which is something really good in a region like this. It fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts followed by malolactic and eight months in new and second use 500-liter French oak barrels. It's very floral and perfumed, with a captivating nose. It's still a straightforward red but with more depth than in previous vintages and especially great freshness. 2016 seems like a very good vintage in the zone. The palate is approachable and soft, with very good acidity. And it's a bargain! 30,000 bottles produced.

The destemmed but uncrushed grapes fermented in stainless steel, concrete and oak containers with indigenous yeasts and matured for six months, the Garnacha in concrete, the Tempranillo in oak vats and a blend of Tempranillo and Graciano in well-seasoned barriques. 2018 was clearly a cool, Atlantic vintage (as opposed to Mediterranean vintages), and the grapes ripened slowly; some of the grapes (the Garnacha) were harvested later than ever. This juicy and fruit-driven young red is aromatic and more fluid, fresher and approachable. The palate is fresh and light, a wine to enjoy without moderation! 75,000 bottles produced make this 75% of the production of the winery. It was bottled in April 2019.

91/100 Punkte Robert Parker Aug 2016 The 2014 Hado wants to showcase the freshness and typicity of Tempranillo in the zone of Laguardia in Rioja, where Pujanza's vineyards are located. 2014 was an early and warm vintage, and the grapes comes from a diversity of plots in Laguardia. The wine is fermented (malolactic included) in stainless steel vats and matured in French oak barrels for one year. This year he used a lot of grapes from the Valdepoleo vineyard (he doesn't buy grapes, but he doesn't want to sell them, either), so the wine has more character. It's usually a more straightforward wine and it has more freshness, from a clay-rich vineyard; but here, the aromas are fresher and more floral. The palate is lively, fine-grained and tasty. A very good showing for this wine.
