93+/100 Punkte Vinous November 2017 Full medium yellow. Exotic lift to the perfumed, highly expressive aromas of pèche de vigne, nectarine, honeysuckle, acacia flower and wild herbs. Delivers outstanding intensity, depth and purity of flavor, with underlying minerality providing lift but no austerity. This sharply delineated wine is more about finesse than power. Finishes wonderfully bright, dense and long. This should be long-lived for a 2016 Pouilly-Fuissé.
91+/100 Punkte Robert Parker, August 2017 The 2015 Pouilly Fuisse Vers Cras comes from two hectares of 50-year-old vines that spends 12 months in cask and another four months in vat. It has a fresh and focused bouquet with subtle honeysuckle and beeswax aromas threaded through the citrus fruit. I appreciate the manner in which this unfolds with aeration. The palate is vibrant on the entry with good acidity but then the second half just seems a little simple by comparison. A wine of two halves, the first better than the second, but overall a very sound Pouilly-Fuissé Vers Cras that may well warrant a higher score in the future.
92/100 Punkte Robert Parker, June 2016 The intensely yellow-colored 2005 Vertus Premier Cru Coeur de Terroir is a partly barrel-fermented (malolactic included) Chardonnay from the best parts of Vertus. Disgorged in April 2015 with five grams of dosage, this is a rich, round and full-bodied cuvée with great finesse and elegance. Chalky textured, the finish is pure, fresh and salty. The ripe Chardonnay fruit and chalky minerality are really persistent. This is a perfectly balanced and well-structured Vertus cru that is ready to be enjoyed today, but can be cellared for five or more years.
93/100 Punkte Robert Parker 31st Aug 2018 Doquet's 2006 Vertus Premier Cru Coeur de Terroir is a selection from the best and oldest Chardonnay vines in Vertus. Fermented and aged on the lees, 60% in small oak barrels, it was bottled in April 2007 and disgorged as Extra Brut in July 2017 (with a dosage of 4.5 grams per liter). This is a highly aromatic, ripe, elegant and pretty sexy 2016 with lovely iodine and very fine (sweet) brioche flavors. Round and perfectly balanced on the palate, this is a rich, elegant, salty, beautifully lush, generous and perfectly balanced Vertus with a pure, fresh and salty finish. Fabulous!
94/100 Punkte Robert Parker October 2018 Potent and intense, the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape La Dame Voyageuse is a rich, dramatic bottling, the best I've tasted under this label. It's approachable now, but smart money is on it aging well for at least a decade. It's full-bodied and supple, with concentrated blueberry, mulberry and plum fruit, hints of licorice, cola and braised meat and just a dusting of baking spices (10% of the blend aged in oak). Tasted three times, with consistent notes.
92/100 Punkte Robert Parker, Oct 2017 According to Laurence Féraud, the 2014 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Reservee was bottled in November 2016. It's already drinking well, with charming aromas of potpourri leading the way. It's medium to full-bodied, rounded out by just enough cherry fruit, then drawing to a spicy, leather-and-silk finish. Féraud calls it her little Burgundy.
92/100 Punkte Vinous April 2016 Light, hazy yellow. Explosive, mineral-driven aromas of fresh pear, peach pit and white flowers carry a gingery background note. Stony, focused and pure on the palate, offering intense orchard fruit and citrus fruit flavors that become weightier with air. Clings with strong tenacity on the finish, which shows excellent clarity and a resonating floral note.
92/100 Punkte Wine Spectator, November 15, 2017 This bright and zesty Champagne is lightly juicy and appealing, offering flavors of Honeycrisp apple, ripe white cherry, biscuit and pickled ginger. Balanced and lacy in texture, with a lingering, spiced finish. Drink now through 2022.
93+/100 Punkte Robert Parker, Aug 2019 The 2017 Chablis 1er Cru Mont de Milieu confirms its strong showing last year, unwinding in the glass with aromas of peach, grapefruit and honeycomb, with some subtle musky floral tones waiting in the wings that I suspect will become more prominent with time. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, concentrated and gourmand, with racy acids and a long, saline finish. Billaud tells me that this was cropped at less than 20 hectoliters per hectare, and that shows.
94/100 Punkte Vinous, Jan 2020 The 2017 Chablis Mont de Milieu 1er Cru is an absolutely exquisite rendering of this site. Rich, layered and beautifully resonant in the glass, the 2017 possesses tons of depth, energy and complexity. Dried pear, marzipan, lemon confit, spice, petrol, dried flowers and chamomile are some of the many notes that grace this wonderfully inviting Chablis from Samuel Billaud.
96/100 Punkte Falstaff Dezember 2019 Leuchtendes Goldgelb, Silberreflexe, lebendiges feines Mousseux.
93/100 Punkte Robert Parker August 31, 2018 Sourced from five plots in the village, the Chardonnay for the 2006 Le Mesnil sur Oger Grand Cru Coeur de Terroir was entirely vinified in small oak barrels. It was kept on the lees until the bottling in April 2007 and disgorged in July 2017 as Extra Brut (with a dosage of four to five grams per liter). This wine offers a very deep, perfectly ripe, pure, fresh and elegant bouquet of great complexity, featuring ripe fruit aromas that are intertwined with iodine and concentrated citrus notes. Almost steely in the background but overall generous, the 2006 is highly elegant and complex, with a lovely oxidative touch and good structure. Pure, fresh and finessed on the palate, this is a very elegant and balanced yet tensioned grand cru with a long, aromatic, perfectly round and accessible finish. This can be cellared for at least 10 to 15 years if you like matured Champagne. There is a lot of life and vitality in this cuvée. Great finish#fresh
91/100 Punkte Wine Spectator Nov 30, 2018 Enticingly ripe, with dense raspberry and blackberry paste flavors forming the core while light anise, sweet spice and toast notes fill in around it. A licorice edge takes center stage through the finish. For the hedonist crowd. Drink now through.
94/100 Punkte Robert Parker August 2019 Cropped at a meager 15 hectoliters per hectare, Billaud produced only two barrels of the 2017 Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos. Offering up aromas of musky peach, mandarin and green apple, it's full-bodied, deep and textural, with the structure of a red wine on the palate. This is a powerful, super concentrated Les Clos, but it's also nicely balanced.
96/100 Punkte Vinous Jan 2020 A tiny bottling in this range, the 2017 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru comes from a microscopic parcel measuring a measly 0.08 hectares, which yielded enough to fill a single 228-liter barrel. Dense, rich and concentrated, the Clos is a wine of real distinction and class. Floral, spice and citrus oil accents are some of the many notes that are woven together in a racy, powerful Chablis endowed with tremendous personality and class.
92/100 Punkte Wine Spectator, November 15, 2017 A graceful rosé that's lacy and airy in texture, with finely knit acidity enlivening the flavors of ripe cherry and strawberry fruit and lemon chiffon, accented by hints of smoke and spice. Drink now through 2022.
91/100 Robert Parker, April 2020 Disgorged in July 2019, the latest release of Drappier's NV Brut Blanc de Blancs exhibits aromas of crisp yellow orchard fruit, oyster shell and white flowers. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, vinous and incisive, with lovely cut, a youthfully frothy mousse and chalky grip on the finish. Still a little introverted after its recent disgorgement, this is a fine Blanc de Blancs from Drappier, a Pinot Noir specialist.
91/100 Punkte Vinous, January 2015 (95% Chardonnay and 5% Pinot Blanc: Pale gold. Candied lemon, lime pith and white flowers on the fragrant nose, with deeper orange and buttered toast qualities emerging with air. Juicy flavors of pear and Meyer lemon show impressive depth and cut, with a gingery nuance adding energy. Bright, focused and mineral-driven on the clinging finish, which leaves behind notes of honeysuckle and brioche.
92/100 Punkte James Suckling October, 2017 Dried white flowers and white peach fruits with hints of lemon. Smells extremely fresh and lively. The palate has an attractive, fleshy and tangy texture. Flavors follow aromas in the stone fruit zone. Grilled nuts to close. Drink now.
