90/100 Punkte Falstaff, Mai 2017 Herrlich unaufdringlicher Duft aus weißem Pfeffer, Aprikosen und frischen Wiesenkräuter. Alles beisammen, alles entspannt. Schmeckt wie locker aus dem Ärmel geschüttelt, und ist dabei doch Ausdruck vorzüglichem Winzerhandwerks.
88/100 Punkte Robert Parker, August 31, 2017 The 2016 Grüner Veltliner Am Berg is a light, bright, fresh and crisp Veltliner with clear and intense white fruit, fine acidity and a delicate mineral backbone. It weighs in at just 11.5% alcohol, is bone dry and really stimulating. Drink young and crisp and with fish!
94/100 Punkte James Suckling Still a little undeveloped on the nose with some peach showing, but on the palate this has serious concentration and power for the moderate alcohol level. A very long, spicy finish. Better from 2018. Made from biodynamically-grown grapes. Screw cap.
90/100 Punkte Robert Parker August 31, 2017 Ott's 2016 Grüner Veltliner Fass 4 displays a deep, clear and pretty intense white fruit aroma intertwined with a noble spicy-mineral, quite stony flavor. Medium to full-bodied, intensely fruity but also mineral and provided with crystalline acidity, this is a remarkably delicate and filigreed Grüner Veltliner. Ending with a clear, piquant and salty finish, it is a first-class wine to pair with many dishes, mainly veggies, fish and white meat. Tasted at Schloss Gobelsburg in July 2017.
92-93/100 Punkte Robert Parker August 2017 The intensely yellow-colored 2016 Feuersbrunner Rosenberg 1ÖTW opens with a deep, intense and complex bouquet of crushed stones, perfectly ripe fruits and a lovely phenolic freshness coming from the skins. Gorgeous! The attack on the palate is piquant, the fruit super ripe and intense, leaving a densely woven carpet with some mineral needles and fine tannins on the palate. Coming from 60+-year-old vines, this is a great, full-bodied and vivacious Grüner Veltliner from the Wagram that reveals a long and vital, stimulatingly salty finish. Tasted as a sample at Schloss Gobelsburg in July 2017.
96/100 Punkte James Suckling Flinty and rather closed. Not only extremely concentrated, but also very refined for grüner veltliner with an almost endless finish. Needs a couple of years before it will give its best, but this is a masterpiece of elegance from Bernhard Ott. Screw cap.
95/100 Punkte Falstaff Weinguide 2016/17 Mittleres Gelbgrün. Einladender Duft nach Golden-Delicious-Apfelfrucht, etwas Maracuja, zarte Wiesenkräuter, ein Hauch von Melisse und Zitrusnoten. Saftig, elegant, komplex, zarte Zitrusnoten im Abgang, mineralisch-salzig im Nachhall, weiße Steinobstfrucht im Rückgeschmack, gutes Entwicklungspotenzial.
94-96/100 Punkte Robert Parker June 2016 Ott's 2015 Feuersbrunner Rosenberg 1ÖTW Grüner Veltliner is a selection only from the oldest, 60-years-old vines, whereas in former vintages 45+-year-old vines were included. The 2015 opens with a fascinatingly clear, floral and herbal bouquet of great precision and individuality. With white-fruit aromas, but mainly mineral flavors, this is one of the greatest Veltliner bouquets I have ever sniffed. On the palate the wine is bone-dry, knife-sharp precise, elegant, finesse-full and rich in a reduced way. Less than 1 grams of residual sugar. Rich and juicy, but extremely sharp and mineral, with a great verve and livliness and a very long and salty finish. This is Ott's quintessence of Grüner Veltliner, and if I say Ott I am speaking of Mister Veltliner. A benchmark not only in the Wagram and a strong proof for the thesis that Wagram's loess soils do not necessarily give rich and creamy textured wines of great opulence. This Rosenberg is the w
93/100 Punkte Robert Parker August 31, 2017 The 2015 Grassnitzberg Sauvignon Blanc#marketed as premier cru (1STK)#has an intense citrus color and opens with a dense, aromatic bouquet that intermixes ripe and concentrated lemon (zest) aromas with flavors of crushed stones. Very complex and promising! Full-bodied, rich and round on the palate, this is a dense, well structured and expressive Sauvignon Blanc with reduced fruit aromatics but a beautiful sur-lie texture from the long lees aging. The wine is highly elegant and finessed and has a hidden complexity that is expressed through a persistent mineral taste and structure that comes with grip#like a river transporting rolling stones over your palate. This is a great and elegant wine that can compete with the finest Sancerres. It comes from shell limestone soils and a warm, protected terroir whose hillside faces south/southeast.
96-98/100 Punkte Robert Parker August 2017 The golden-yellow colored, still cloudy sample of the 2015 Zieregg Sauvignon Blanc is the "picture book Tement wine" for Armin Tement. It contains all of the single plots (and more of course) and opens with a deep, intense and perfectly ripe but also flinty bouquet that indicates great depth and chalky minerality along with purity, complexity and herbal flavors. Full-bodied, silky and generous, this is a mind-blowing Austrian wine that is rich but finessed, highly complex and elegant, powerful and persistent but also fresh, vital and enormously mineral, with endless salinity. This 2015 is beautifully balanced but, nevertheless, full of tension and length. What a great and complex, pure and finessed Grand Cru from Sauvignon Blanc. And what a finish! This is a legend in the making. Tasted as a sample in May 2017.
