92/100 Punkte Wine Spectator, Sept 2018 This muscular red offers loamy earth, bitter chocolate and soy sauce notes that impart a savory character, with a core of blackberry and currant flavors, powered by racy acidity that yields to a floral, spicy finish. Best from 2020 through 2030.
93/100 Punkte James Suckling July 2018 Aromas of blueberries, dark plums and dark chocolate. Hints of violets too. Full body, round and compact tannins and a linear and vertical finish. Drink now or hold.
93/100 Punkte Robert Parker July 2016 The 2015 Branco Nossa Calcário is a single-vineyard Bical that looks impressive. It was aged for five months in partly (20%) new French oak and comes in at just 12% alcohol. When I first saw this in Portugal, it seemed nice but mute, not quite as impressive as I hoped it would be in this fine Branco vintage. Retasting it at home a couple of months later showed it blossoming. Now, it was suddenly intense and powerful, not to mention very concentrated for this grape. It simply fills the mouth and takes control of the palate. Laced with stones, steel and a bit of flint, this has a very earthy flavor profile. If you're looking for fruity, this probably won't be it. I was, in fact, a little concerned early on that the flinty notes were a bit too much, but it kept improving while open. With more time in the bottle, it should come into even better balance. It is worth betting on this Branco--complex, rather intense and concentrated. It may yet be ent
96/100 Punkte Robert Parker Feb 2018 The 2015 Nossa Calcario red is a Baga from three vineyards with an average vine age of 80 years, aged in used French and Slavonian oak for 18 months. This is a fine representation of the vintage and the region. Showing impeccable balance, silky texture, grace and wonderful mid-palate finesse, it has that hard-to-find ability to be elegant, but it's never thin. It resembles a fine Barbaresco in many ways. It is also very fresh, the natural acidity of Baga coming to the foreground, mingling with small hits of wood and some fruitier nuances. The wood blows off quickly; those opening nuances are very minor. With time, they simply seem to disappear. Tasting this a second time, it seemed a bit sharp and tart. When I tasted it the first time, the context was different#namely, it was next to the Missão reviewed this issue, which seemed much tarter. This "normal" Nossa red is just Baga, though. The big hit of acidity does not overwhelm the wine. It lift
87+/100 Punkte Robert Parker, Jan 31, 2017 Coming from a south-facing, 60-are vineyard on deep marl soils situated at 420 meters above sea level, the 2015 Pinot Blanc opens with ripe tropical fruit aromas intermixed with new oak and stirred yeast flavors. Fermented in stainless steel and oak vats, but aged in new and used barriques until the bottling in May, this is a full-bodied, round and very aromatic Pinot Blanc; it has a smooth acidity and an elegant texture. The 2015 is still made-up and lacks the purity and finessed freshness of a great wine, but the round and smooth-textured mouthfeel will be really pleasant for many consumers. The finish reveals a good grip and salinity, so the wine may improve with bottle age.
92/100 Punkte Robert Parker Feb 2011 The 2008 Pinot Grigio Dessimis is a huge departure from previous vintages. Talk about a wine that has completely been re-thought. For starters, the light pinkish hue is the result of a brief period of contact on the skins. Layers of sweet, perfumed fruit caress the palate as this silky, understated and totally classy Pinot Grigio opens up in the glass. The 2008 Dessimis shows exceptional balance and finesse, not to mention terrific personality. A final burst of red berries informs the long finish. Though delicious now, the Dessimis is an excellent choice for drinking as the weather warms up into the spring and summer. I loved it. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2013.
91/100 Punkte Robert Parker, May 2016 Here is another blockbuster from Vie di Romans. The 2013 Friuli Isonzo Pinot Grigio Dessimis is a lush and thickly concentrated effort with pristine aromas of pear, Golden Delicious apple, preserved lemon and acacia-infused honey. The wine is interesting from a textural point of view in that it offers good heft and complexity, although it never feels heavy or flat. It maintains a sense of brightness and energy all the while. This Pinot Grigio is fermented in stainless steel and aged in oak.
94/100 Punkte James Suckling, October 2015 This is a pinot grigio that resembles a rosé more than a white with lots of mineral, white pepper and peach aromas and flavors. Rich and delicious. This is a really cool wine. Drink now.
