(all carinena, aged in new French oak for 16 months): Deep ruby. Vibrant, mineral-accented red berry and cherry aromas are complicated by notes of licorice and Asian spices. Lively and precise, offering intense raspberry and bitter cherry flavors that put on weight with air. Powerful yet lithe, even graceful, finishing with outstanding clarity and length and chewy tannins that make a late arrival.

(all tempranillo; aged in French oak for 30 months): Inky ruby. Cassis, blackberry, licorice and dark chocolate aromas are complicated by notes of vanilla, cracked pepper and woodsmoke. Juicy, penetrating and quite primary, offering sweet dark berry, mocha and black pepper flavors sharpened by peppery spices and smoky minerals. Shows very good concentration with no excess weight and finishes sweet, gently tannic and long, leaving a sexy berry compote note behind.

The 2013 Barbera d'Alba is a gorgeous, super-classic wine. Medium in body, but with plenty of depth, the 2013 presents an intriguing combination of deep Barbera fruit, bright acidity and floral aromatics. Drink this beautifully layered, exquisite Barbera over the next handful of years. The 2013 is bound to put a smile on the face of this estate's many fans.

    Parker 94/100

94/100 Punkte Robert Parker, May 2016
The 2012 Barolo Cannubi Boschis is a solid and tighter wine compared to the 2012 Le Vigne. Having said that, it veers close to being too austere and hard-bodied, especially at this young stage of its life. Of Sandrone's two new Barolo releases, this wine definitely needs more time to evolve and soften with extra years of bottle aging. The tannins are more evident and the wine's firm backbone acts to support dark fruit flavors with distant accents of spice, licorice and tobacco. The 2012 Luciano Sandrone wines are very good, but remain far from the amazing heights achieved by this historic winery in the best years. Like many of the wines from this vintage (across the various townships that make up the appellation), they are slightly less expressive and they speak at a lower volume.

The 2012 Barolo Cannubi Boschis opens with beguiling aromatics redolent of crushed rose petal, spices, mint and new leather. Wonderfully layered and nuanced, especially for the year, the 2012 offers good freshness to match its inviting, supple fruit. I would prefer to drink it sooner rather than later, while its alluring, open-knit personality is on full display. In 2012, the fruit tends towards the redder end of spectrum, unusual for Cannubi Boschis, which usually tends towards darker shades of expression. The 2012 is perfumed, lithe and super-classy from start to finish.

The 2011 Barolo is a very expressive wine with more determination and muscle than you usually get in the wines of Bartolo Mascarello. The bouquet opens to plush flavors of red fruit and cherry with grilled herb, tobacco and mineral delineation. Its structure is yielding and round and the finish is ripe with soft fruit flavors. Make no mistake, it doles out complexity and an ethereal sense of balsam herb, cola and licorice that is the hallmark of this historic estate with a tiny garage winery in the town of Barolo. The alcohol reading here is 14.5% compared to 14% in the 2010 vintage.

The just-bottled 2011 Barolo is sweet, round and sensual, as it has always been from barrel. Kirsch, rose petals, sweet red cherries, crushed flowers, mint and cinnamon are all laced together in the glass. The tannins are silky, round and beautifully ripe. I expect the 2011 will offer a long and wide drinking window of pure pleasure over the next 20 years or so. This is one of the more delicate, polished 2011 Barolos readers will come across.

Funkelndes, aufhellendes Rubin-Granat.

The Bartolo Mascarello 2012 Barolo is a beautiful wine that is endowed by a deep sense of purity and clarity. What else should you expect from the producer whose name is forever linked to the definition of traditional Barolo? The wine is vibrant and elegant with an evident sense of inner grace that translates to both the nose and the mouthfeel. Silky and polished, the wine reveals delicate tones of wild rose, forest berry, licorice, dried ginger and cola. Maria Teresa Mascarello used the word "fragile" to describe this vintage and I think it is a poetically appropriate term for this wine.

Freshly cut flowers, mint, raspberry and red stone fruits all lift from the glass in the Maria-Theresa Mascarello's 2012 Barolo. Silky, open-knit and gracious, the 2012 is surprisingly delicious today. This is a decidedly mid-weight, approachable Barolo that is already quite open and delicious. Best of all, the 2012 won't need years to come together. Mascarello fans should buy the 2012 to drink over the near and medium-term, while some of the more structured vintages age in the cellar. A model of grace and finesse, the 2012 is striking in its beauty, even if it clearly doesn't have the depth or multi-dimensional personality of the very best years.

The 2011 Barolo Le Vigne is an opulent and shapely wine with a point of extra cherry softness that you don't get in the 2011 Barolo Cannubi Boschis. That wine shows more austerity and vigor compared to this expression. But Le Vigne delivers an unexpected touch of roundness and opulence that fits the historic profile of this beautiful rendition of Nebbiolo. It presents a slightly more immediate style but it also has the inner grace and poise for a long cellar evolution.

The Luciano Sandrone 2012 Barolo le Vigne shows the trademark ripeness that I so often identify in this historic product. The bouquet is round and plush with thick layers of dark cherry marmalade, blackberry preserves and dark currant. Beyond those apparent fruit aromas, Le Vigne offers dark spice and licorice with a beautiful menthol signature on the finish. The wine's natural structure is padded by soft tannins and lush fruit consistency. In all, this important wine is less vibrant and distinctive compared to other excellent vintages such as 2008 and 2010. The 2012 Luciano Sandrone wines are very good, but remain far from the amazing heights achieved by this historic winery in the best years. Like many of the wines from this vintage (across the various townships that make up the appellation), they are slightly less expressive and they speak at a lower volume.

At once powerful and delicate on the palate, with a concentrated core of blackberry fruit wrapped in subtle oak spices. Finishes with abundant fine-grained tannins. Gently sweet but nonetheless firm, this Blaufränkisch finishes extravagantly long. It comes from a single vineyard of over 50+-year-old viness on the historical Eisenberg and is part of Schiefer#s reserve series.

Sweet red cherry, rose petal, chalk, blood orange and mint are front and center, but it is the wine's superb textural polish that elevates it among some pretty lofty company among the great wines of Italy. The flavors are bold and pungent, but there is also striking depth to the fruit that ensures the savory notes aren't overpowering. This is simply a magical bottle. That's all there is to it.

Dark red cherry, plum smoke, tobacco and violet notes are beautifully defined in Petrolo's 2013 Bòggina. Rich and pliant through to the finish, this classy 100% Sangiovese delivers outstanding quality to match its inviting personality. Today, the flavors are naturally quite primary, so a few years of cellaring is warranted. Tasted next to the Bòggina Anfora, the straight Bòggina has more mid-palate intensity and overtness, as well as an expression of fruit that is more closely aligned to the Petrolo house style. But that is really splitting hairs, as both Bògginas are delicious.

Extremely aromatic and perfumed with dark berries, cherries and flowers, as well as hints of rosemary and lavender. Full body, very fine and tight tannins as well as bright and creamy acid. Lovely tension between the fruit and tannins. Better in 2017 but already beautiful.

It's interesting to taste the 2014 Bòggina Anfora (Bògginanfora), Petrolo's Sangiovese done in amphora next to the same wine aged in oak. The amphora wine is initially a bit softer and creamier in its contours, but it also offers less development in the glass. Lavender, plum, menthol, sage and sweet herbs lead into the expressive finish. This is another very pretty wine from Petrolo and proprietor Luca Sanjust.

This is a ground-breaking wine that always challenges the imagination and your tastebuds. The Brancaia 2012 Il Blu is a blend of 50% Sangiovese, 45% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. It's important to say that the vintage heat does leave its mark. The wine is dark, succulent and jammy as a result. Dried black cherry and plum play leading roles. As does the powerful 14.5% alcohol that comes off as a little too evident in this edition. Annual bottle production for Il Blu is about 20 ,000.

The 2012 Il Blu is very pretty in this vintage. A host of dark red cherry, blueberry, mint, wild flowers and spices open up first. High-toned, floral notes from the Sangiovese add an attractive upper register to the sumptuous, open-knit fruit. The 2012 is a relatively open Il Blu that will drink well with minimal cellaring. A blend of Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, Il Blu remains one of the most distinctive of the internationally styled wines in Tuscany.

The 2013 Chianti Classico Brolio is a very pretty, fruit-driven wine with plenty of near and medium term appeal. The flavors are bold and punchy in this succulent, fruit-driven Chianti. Drink the 2013 over the next few years, while the fruit retains its juiciness. The inclusion of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon helps give the wine its soft, generous contours. All the elements are very nicely balanced throughout.

    95/100 Punkte Falstaff Weinguide
Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung.

Inky ruby. Smoky bouquet features black cherry, hyacinth and clove. Rich and firm, displaying intriguing flavors of black fruits, bitter chocolate and hazelnut, the 2013 Bühl is a monumental wine but a bit monolithic today and in need of time in bottle. A serious wine that is almost too concentrated to drink at present, it handles its 14.5% alcohol extremely well and has excellent aging potential.

A striking entry-level wine, the 2013 Carnasciale is layered, sensual and deeply expressive today. Raspberry jam, cloves, espresso and sweet herbs are pushed forward in an open-knit, succulent wine that captures all the qualities of the "Grand Vin" in miniature. Beams of tannin add grip to the finish. The 2013 is a subtle Carnasciale with striking aromatic and flavor nuance.

(these 60-year-old vines were the first to be picked in 2013): Pale, green-tinged yellow. Musky, precise aromas of pineapple, grapefruit and white flowers. A rich, ripe fruit bomb on the palate, with citrus and pineapple flavors showing lovely vivacity and lift without any hardness. Really spreads out and glistens on the back end, leaving behind a strong impression of dry extract and a suggestion of candied lemon peel. Impressive volume here: the crop level was barely 30 hectoliters per hectare, according to Billaud, who will bottle all of his premier crus in July and September. Billaud noted that fruit is very important for Vaillons but admitted that he was nonetheless worried about making a heavy wine in 2013.

The 2014 Chablis 1er Cru Montee de Tonnerre saw 5% maturation in barrel, like the Mont de Milieu. This has a subtle and precise bouquet of fresh pear, Granny Smith apples and sea spray--more mineralité coming through with each swirl of the glass. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, harmonious with a hint of lemongrass that lends spiciness to the finish. This is one of the picks from Samuel Billaud this year, thanks to the tension on the finish.

15% of this wine is in an old 550-liter barrel: Pale yellow with a green tinge. Lime zest, oyster shell, ginger and quinine on the nose. Vibrant and rich in the mouth, combining flavors of fresh peach, spices and pepper. Densely packed, dusty and weightless; still youthfully tight and a bit metallic and flinty. Finishes strict, linear and long, with strong salinity. Right now, this is more closed and slightly more bitter than the Séchet.

Pale, bright yellow-green. Strong yellow peach aroma complicated by flint and spices; this could hardly be more different in style from the Séchet. Fat and sweet on the palate, showing lovely concentration but a softer texture and less inner-mouth tension to its yellow fruit flavors. Finishes fat and persistent. This cuvée is a blend of vines at three different altitudes.
