91/100 Punkte James Suckling June 2018 This is a beautiful rosé with dried orange peel, light wet earth and some watermelon character. Medium body, light phenolic tension and a crisp finish. 100% merlot. Drink now.
90/100 Punkte Vinous June 2017 Brilliant orange. Aromas of tangerine, strawberry and fresh flowers show very good clarity and a subtle mineral flourish. Juicy and sharply focused on the palate, offering sappy red berry flavors that put on weight with air. Fleshy, smooth and dry, finishing with tight focus and minerally persistence.
89/100 Punkte Robert Parker August 31, 2018 The medium-pink 2017 Cotes du Rhone Rose La Dame Rousse is another top example of this cuvée. It offers raspberry, pear and melon flavors, a plump, medium-bodied mouthfeel and a long, citrusy finish. Crisp and clean, it should be consumed over the next several months.
88/100 Punkte Vinous May 2017 Bright pink. Easygoing aromas and flavors of red berries and flowers. Fresh and fruity, with a strong note of candied violets on the medium-long bright finish. A blend of Syrah, Nero d'Avola and Pinot Nero. Donnafugata is an outstanding Italian wine estate but I'm not sure they have quite gotten the hang of rosato yet.
90/100 Punkte Robert Parker Feb 2018 Dressed in a beautiful dark salmon color, the 2016 Auvernier Oeil de Perdrix is a pure Pinot Noir rosé with a Champagne-like bouquet of sweet cherries and smoky limestone. Full-bodied, round and very elegant with intense fruit and a persistent finish, this nicely balanced rosé reveals fine tannins and lovely acidity. It has a bit of the gentle character of Chasselas and the delicacy of Pinot Noir. This is really lovely and pretty unique in style with a good finish. Love it! No idea how long this can age, but it's perfect now and will surely be good for the next four or five years. The firm structure and rich extract are promising, though. It's not a primary, fruity rosé, and it could age like a Chasselas (or Pinot Noir). Tasted February 2018.
93/100 Punkte Robert Parker October 2017 The 2016 Tavel La Reine des Bois is among those at the very top of the appellation. It's full-bodied, ripe and rich, marrying ample fruit with complex spice notes and a wonderfully silky texture.
92/100 Vinous June 2017 Limpid orange. Vibrant and expressive on the nose, displaying cherry, blood orange and floral scents and a building mineral note. Sappy red currant and bitter cherry flavors flesh out slowly with air, picking up a hint of fennel on the back half. The finish hangs on with impressive tenacity, leaving behind bitter orange pith and cherry pit notes.
